The Audio Vault

While visual records of SWRFM’s history are rare, a wealth of audio history has been amassed over the decades. Since 1992, much of this was captured on high quality HiFi VCR and previously, audio cassettes.

SWRFM is unique in the Australian community radio sector, in that a comprehensive audio record of it’s embryonic and early years exists today. It stands as an audio window into a time long past. Long before the internet, when “community radio” was the only outlet available.

Through an exhaustive process of digitisation over the past 15 years, this collection of audio history will now be made available for download on the internet.

So step into the audio time machine, close your eyes, tune in your radio and let’s go back.
